Connell Transport is extremely proud to announce that one of our very own has been nominated for Goodyear’s 35th Highway Hero award.

Frank Vieira displayed outstanding bravery and social responsibility when he aided in potentially saving the lives of 2 drivers involved in a crash between a transport truck and a small car on a busy Toronto highway. Though Vieira and his truck were not involved in the accident, he parked his truck and sprang into action after hearing a loud crash as he was driving. Not only may he have saved the life of the driver of the car involved in the accident by applying his first aid knowledge until the EMT’s arrived, but also the life of the other truck driver who fainted into a lane of traffic after seeing the injuries.

This is a case where Frank realized that the most important thing was not getting to his next delivery on time. He put his personal safety aside to help those who were in a dire situation. Without his quick thinking and selfless actions, the story could have had a much different ending.

Both of the drivers involved in the accident were able to make a full recovery.
